I love the Sky Caddie SGX. It has proven to have every very extensive courses selection (all that I play or have played) available. The distances are very accurate and the product is very easy to use. I like the fact that it has motion sensors built in that auto change the screen view by simply turning it from upright to left for the scorecard or right for the green view. I have had a small issue in that this feature will activate while the unit is in the golf cart mount and the cart hits some bumpy terrain. The only feature I wish it had was immediate access to round statistics like GIR. This is available afte the round is completed and the data is uploaded to the SkyCaddie websoftware. All things considered, this is an excellent purchase.

I have used a SkyCaddie SG-3 for about 5 years prior to buying the SGX and it was a big step up. The SGX cuts the time to lock onto a satellite by about 75% and gets me going in minutes. Sometimes by old SG-3 would be four or five holes into the round before it started giving yardages. The SGX also updates much faster between shots. I found when riding a cart that the SG-3 would give wrong yardages until I was stopped for several minutes. The other thing that I really like is the new color graphics and ability to turn the unit 90 degrees to get a green view.
There are a couple of things that I’d ask SkyCaddie to continue to work on. I recently went to a course that I had not downloaded online and, contrary to the advertised claims, the SGX never downloaded the course properly so that I could use it. We played 36 holes and it didn’t work once so I would be sure do download courses at home before you go. I like that the SGX will keep score but I found that once it got onto the scoring screen you could not leave to go back to the hole without entering a score or skipping the hole. This is clumsy and bogs me down during the round. The last thing is SkyGolf’s website. They really need to spend some money to make that a MUCH simpler site to use. It took me nearly 2 hours to get my SkyCaddie SG-3 converted over to the SGX.
Overall, this is a big step change in on-course performance and the things that need to be fixed could be easily done with some software updates.
